Through its compact design, the beach camping structure places a minimal impact on its surrounding habitat. The east and west edges are kept open to allow sea and land breezes to naturally ventilate the structure. Designed for privacy, two bedrooms’ interiors are screened from views and excessive noise.
A boardwalk weaves through surrounding vegetation and ascends to approach the structure. The chevron pattern on the floorboards signifies the transition from the environment into a protected space. A gathering room on the first floor greets the family upon arrival. From there, they can continue to their private rooms or to the skydeck. Providing a 360 degree view of the surrounding environment, the skydeck represents a culmination point. It is also marked with a diamond floor pattern to signify the importance of this point and relate back to the beginning of the journey, at the boardwalk.
